Smart Budgeting With Cash Back Credit Cards
A great trick for earning a few dollars for doing nothing is using cash back credit cards for all your day-to-day living expenses. The way it works is like this – you earn cash every time you charge something to the card. This is real money, credited to your account. It could not be any easier. You do not have to do anything to earn this money except pay for your purchase with that credit card.
Each credit card company has its particular rules and conditions. So your best bet is to check with your card company for details. But most award programs base their cash awards on one or two percent of purchases made to the card. For example, charging a thousand dollars on your card would earn a cash amount of between ten and twenty dollars. Now it is not like you are going to become a millionaire on these refunds, but these refunds can add up to a nice little bonus every month. If somebody hands me a ten dollar bill, I’m not going to turn them down.
You could make a reduction of one or two percent in your daily living expenses by using the credit card for all your day-to-day daily purchases. Items like gasoline, lunches, coffee, transportation, groceries, virtually everything that you buy, will be on sale for two percent less.
You would be better off just paying cash for your daily living expenses if you can not pay off your monthly credit card balance. This is because the amount of the cash rewards will not offset the interest you will be charged. But if there is any way you can manage to pay that monthly balance you should do it. The cash rewards can really be a nice bonus that can lower your day-to-day living expenses.
If you do not have a credit card, you probably can use your bank debit card for cash rewards. Check with your bank to see if they offer reward programs for their debit card programs. Usually you can process a transaction on your bank debit card as a credit card transaction. The only difference is, instead of entering your PIN number, you will sign the credit card receipt. You can not get cash back either.
Cash back credit cards are just one of many little tricks you can use to save money. In fact, it will even put a few bucks in your pocket. It would be hard to find someone who would have a problem with that.
